The international program of proficiency testing of laboratories engaged in microbiological tests of food products is being implemented until December 2019. The program is developed by the Analysis Capability Assessment System (ACAS) Agency of the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine (CAIQ) with support of the Committee for Trade and Investment and the Subcommittee for Standards and Conformity of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Participation in the project is intended to assist APEC economies in ensuring food safety, public health, and business competitiveness, and helps to address pressing issues for the region, as more than 60% of all food safety concerns are related to microbiological contamination by salmonella, monocytogenic listeria, mold, and yeast fungus.

The Federal Service for Accreditation coordinates the participation of the Russian laboratories in the project. In total, approximately 100 laboratories of the APEC countries take part in the round of Interlaboratory Comparison Studies (ICS). These include 17 Russian laboratories, 10 of which are from the list of core laboratories of the national project “International Cooperation and Export”.
